Obitoke temple

I went to Obitoke temple in Nara city to pray for my friend's easy child's birth.

Obitoke temple is about 2 mins walk from JR Obitoke station.

Althoug Obitoke station is 2 stations from Nara station that is

one of the biggest station in Nara, no station staff is there...

And train comes only twice in one hour...

Because of it, around there is so quiet and tranquil.

Obitoke temple is famous for prayer for pregnancy and easy child's birth.

It has a long history.

About 1,160 years ago, Emperor Montoku and Empress Somedono

had not be able to have child for a long time.

Therefore she went to the place where Obitoke tmple is located and prayed.

And finally she could get pregnant.

This temple was named Obitoke after this story.

Obi(maternity belt) toke(loose) means loose maternity belt.

So that means delivery was successful.

And then a lot of people from all over Japan visit this temple to pray.

I am the one of the those kind of person.

I prayed for my friend's easy child's birth and got a good luck charm for her.

This dog charm is made of the cloth called Sawori-Ori by hand.

They used various kinds of cloth. So all the dog have different designs.

And I chose this.

This charm is good gift for pregnant ladies.

After their birth, this dog will be toy for a baby also.

By train:3 mins walk away from JR Obitoke station(Maholoba Line)

By bus:Take Nara Kotsu bus For 天理駅・下山(Tenri station and Shimoyama),

　　 get off at 下山(Shimoyama) and walk about 10 mins.
