The other day we climbed Mt. Wakakusayama.

You can see beautiful mountain covered with grass behind Nara park. The mountain is Mt. Wakakusayama. It is also called Mt. Mikasayama(Mikasa means three umbrella).
Because it looks like three mountains overlapped.

It is 342 m in height and is easy to climb to the top of mountain.
It takes about 40 minutes to the top.And also there are lots of deer on the top.

There are two gates(north gate and south gate) at the base of Mt. Wakakusayama. There is no tree on the road from south gate and nothing keeps out the sun.So, I recommend to climb from the north gate especially hot summer season.

This is base of Mt. Wakakusayama.

From the base to the first summit, we walked on stepped path.

This is the first summit.
We enjoyed a splendid view over Nara city.

From the first summit to the second summit, the slope is moderate

From the seccond summit to the third summit, we walked on moderate slope and stepped path.

Finally we reached the third summit.

We had a break and enjoyed the nice view.
But if you wanna eat something, please be careful about deer.As soon as we started eating, they came around us...

A large keyhole-shaped tomb mound called Uguisuzuka ancient mound is on the top of Mt. Wakakusayama.
It's said that it was constructed in the 5th century for Empress Iwanohimenomikoto.

There are many different kinds of tree in this mountain.
And we can enjoy beautiful sight every season.
