Burning up Mt. Wakakusayama called Yamayaki is held on the fourth Sat. of Jan. every year.This is a traditional new year event. Kasuga Taisha shrine, Todai-ji temple and Kofuku-ji temple pray for repose of souls and world peace together.

After about 600 fireworks are launched, the hill is ignited by the members of those Shrine and temples. The hill contineue to be burned for about 30mins.

The view is spectacular and worth seeing.
 As it will be very cold this weekend, please keep you warm.

                    Heijo-kyu palace site and so on
*Access to foot of Mt. Wakakusayama
 (1)by walking 
 about 30 mins walk from Kintetsu Nara station
 about 40 mins walk from JR Nara station 

 (2)by bus
 Take Nara Kotsu city loop line outer circle bus from 
 JR Nara or Kintestu Nara station, 
 get off at Daibutsu den Kasuga Taisha Mae
 and walk about 10 mins from bus stop.
